Critical Leaf Water Content for Maize Photosynthesis under Drought Stress and Its Response to Rewatering

نویسندگان

چکیده

Crop photosynthesis is closely related to leaf water content (LWC), and clarifying the LWC conditions at critical points in crop has great theoretical practical value for accurately monitoring drought providing early warnings. This experiment was conducted study response of rewatering determine which maize reaches a maximum minimum thus changes from state stomatal limitation (SL) non-stomatal (NSL). The effects rehydration were different after levels stress intensity growth stages, recovered following stresses jointing stage; however, more slowly 43 days 36 tasselling silking respectively. when changed SL NSL 75.4% ± 0.38%, implying that became rehydrated under physiologically impaired conditions. LWCs Vcmax25 reached values zero differed between periods. After exposure stress, exhibited enhanced tolerance, an obviously reduced suitable range, significantly weakened photosynthetic capacity. These results provide profound insight into turning their responses rewatering. They may also help improve management, will be useful coping with increased frequency extreme weather events expected global climate change.

Maize leaf functional responses to drought episode and rewatering

10 Effects of crop growth and physiological activity to drought and irrigation regimes 11 have been extensively studied; however, the responses of plant growth, morphological 12 and photosynthetic behaviors to drought episodes and thereafter rewatering receive a 13 less attention. This field experiment was carried out directly in situ at an agricultural 14 ecosystem research station during 2015...

Maize (Zea mays L.) Response to Nitrogen Fertilizer under Drought Stress at Vegetative and Reproductive Stages

In the sub-tropics, water and nitrogen are the most important factors limiting the grain yield of maize. The effect of nitrogen (N) rates and drought stress at different growth stages of maize were investigated. Nitrogen treatments consisted of 100, 150, and 200  kgN.ha-1 from the urea source while water stress treatments were composed of irrigation-off since the early 10-leaf stage to emergenc...

This research was conducted to evaluate effect of potassium and iron fertilizers on agro-physiological traits affected different irrigation regime of corn in Shahryar (Tehran province, central of Iran) via a split-split plots arrangement based on randomized complete blocks design with three replications during 2015. The main plot included different irrigation regime (Normal irrigation and stop ...

Maize (Zea Mays L.) Growth and Yield Response to Ethephon Application under Water Stress Conditions

The aim of the present investigation was to study the growth, yield and yield components of maize (Zea mays L.) single cross 704 under different levels of irrigation, plant density, and ethephon in southern Iran where this particular crop has not yet been studied in detail. A field experiment was performed in the 2004 5 growing season at the experimental farm of the College of Agriculture, Shir...
